FAEV Ingredients For Hyperpigmentation

Isn’t it the worst feeling when your skin is doing super well and then you get a pimple that turns into the most stubborn dark spot ever? Or when you’re trying to do your makeup and your concealer just won’t stop turning grey because of the hyperpigmentation around your eyes? Yeah, we totally relate. So here are our FAEV (get it?) ingredients to deal with hyperpigmentation.

  1. When life gives you lemons…
Okay please don’t actually use a straight up lemon on your face but what you can use is Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and one of the most commonly known ingredients to tackle hyperpigmentation and photoageing. It is recommended to be used during the day but please don’t forget to apply your SPF.
  2. Alpha’s only
No, not Alpha males. Duh? but Alpha Arbutin. What is Alpha Arbutin you ask? It is again a potent antioxidant that brightens the skin and also helps with the appearance of age spots, melasma and post inflammatory pigmentation. It can be used AM and PM but remember to follow it up with sunscreen.
  3. The end all be all of skincare
Yes, I’m talking about Retinol. If I sit down and list all the benefits of Retinol (also known as Vitamin A)  we’ll be here forever but one of its qualities is reducing hyperpigmentation. Disclaimer to be careful with retinol and to consult a dermatologist before you start using it because as good as it is for your skin, itcan become just as bad if not used correctly.

That is it for the sciency stuff. In the end, remember that your skin doesn’t need to be flawless for it to be beautiful. Oh and also remember to apply your SPF (SPF Juice should be the only one that comes to your mind) because sun damage can worsen hyperpigmentation. Till next time :)
